Cable car between Como and Brunate
Cable car between Como and Brunate
In 1894 the cable car that connects Como and Brunate was inaugurated and now is one of the most famous attractions in Como. Brunate became a famous holiday resort between the 19th and 20th century and then experienced a rapid tourist development thanks to its amazing panoramas, its healthy air and the possibility of going on excursions in the mountains. Nowadays the symbol of this golden age is represented by the eclectic villas designed following the Liberty style. The first panoramic point can be reached walking for a few minutes from the station of the cable car following the direction towards “Belvedere”. From this point you will enjoy a spectacular view of Como and its grid of streets, the lake, the surrounding plain and the Alps, especially the mountains near Monte Rosa. Brunate is also an excellent starting point for excursions ideal for the whole family. The first one that we suggest is a 40-minute excursion that leads to the famous Faro Voltiano, a symbolic lighthouse that was built in 1927 on the occasion of the centennial of the death of Alessandro Volta, from which you can enjoy one of the best views of this area. Another beautiful and easy excursion connects the village of Brunate to Monte Piatto. Don’t miss the opportunity to try the cable car experience and visit the little village of Brunate!
